Beautiful, elegant Zoey was surrendered by her family when they had to move and couldnt take her. They adopted her as a puppy and she was in this home for 8 years (seems SO much younger). She was timid at first, so puzzled about being suddenly homeless and in a new place, but she is settling in well and blossoming more each day. She recently went on a foster home visit and did fabulously, really had a great time and was so happy and playful. With a look like a dainty fox, with soft red fur, her breed mix is a mystery. She is only 16 pounds. Sweet Zoey loves to be near her people and bonds quickly. Though a little shy initially, she quickly comes close for treats and love. As soon as she is comfy, this girl shows her delightful true personality, which is very loving, tail wagging happy, fun-loving and playful. She loves rubber squeaky toys and likes to fetch them for you. She could play with squeakies for hours and likes to play with a pair of them!! Zoey is super snuggly once she is comfy with new people. She values people very much and wants to be a good girl. She sits nicely for treats, comes when she is called and is anxious to please. Her prior family said she was housetrained and she does keep her kennel pristine. She does not ask to go out so needs to be kept on a schedule in her new home until she is used to the routine. She enjoys car rides and likes to go different places for new adventures such as the local parks. She enjoys walks and especially going on outings with her people. As long as she is with her loved ones, life is good! She has been good with the other little dogs here and loves to play but does not want to share her food with other dogs. On her foster visit, she was great with the calm senior dog about treats and food, but she doesn't trust active young dogs and tells them to back off. She is fine with people around her food since they are the providers of more food! Zoey would like her new home to be a fairly peaceful one, with people who will have a little patience with her occasional shyness and give her time to blossom. It will not take long!!! She would probably do best in a home without little kids since she is not used to them and is a bit nervous with their hyperness and squeals. She should be perfectly fine with well mannered youngsters who will be respectful with her. Beautiful, loving, well mannered Zoey is going to be one amazing companion, just needs a little confidence building and some positive experiences in the big, wide world. Once she understands that she is safe when in a new situation, she is fine. She is incredibly smart and learns new things in a flash. She needs a bit more training so that she understands that she should not push her way out the door first but was an excellent student on her foster home visit. It is a pleasure to teach her new things. The only place she has been terribly frightened was at the vet during her initial assessment and spaying, but the poor girl was new to rescue and had no idea what was happening to her! Zoey is one very precious little girl, so easy to fall in love with. She may be 8 years old but, if you are looking for a toddling senior, Zoey is not the one for you. If you are looking for a young dog to join you in adventures and have many years of fun with, Zoey IS the one for you!!! She is young in heart, healthy, fit and full of vigor. Adoption donation $150.
