Smokey was one of a hoarder's many dogs and he was viciously attacked by coyotes and his wounds left untreated and infected since the man could not afford vet care. We convinced the man to surrender Smokey and took him immediately to the emergency vet. Months later, Smokey became our latest wonder child, a young boy who is so happy to be with us, to be alive, to be finding himself at the beginning of the best life he has ever experienced. As he lay for weeks on the soft bed in the air conditioning, Smokey learned that he was valuable and loved, two things he had never known before in his short life. He is happy and healthy now! This affectionate and loving boy has come such a long way and is ready for his forever family, a family who will love and cherish him. Smokey is shy from living with a hoarder who had way too many dogs to socialize them, but he loves gentle affection and is very loving to people he trusts. He can be fearful when approached in the confines of a kennel but relaxes once he is out in the play yard or anywhere else outside of the kennel environment. He is learning social skills and should progress further once he is in a peaceful home environment. Smokey is going to be a wonderful pet with the right dog-savvy owner and will gain the confidence that he will always be loved and cared for. He is enjoying walks on the leash now and is well behaved. He walks nicely beside you and doesn't even pull so he is easy to take on outings. He thoroughly enjoys going on adventures to parks and other such wonderful places and looks forward to being adopted by a family who enjoys the same. Adoption donation $100. HOW TO APPLY: 1.
